About the retreat: In this day-long retreat, we will engage in mindfulness and self-compassion meditation practices and exercises, along with periods of inquiry and group discussions to deepen our experience of kind and compassionate acts for oneself. Asilomar, known as Monterey’s “Refuge by the Sea,” overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Asilomar State Beach, providing a serene setting for contemplation & reflection. No prior meditation experience needed to register.

Course objectives:

-Learn the four components of compassion

-Learn how to practice mindfulness in your personal and professional life

-Learn what it means to be self-compassionate and the scientific benefits of self-compassion

-Learn how the lack of self-compassion impacts your personal and professional life

Continuing Education (CE) information: In collaboration with SCRC and David Lukoff, Ph.D., this retreat meets the qualifications for 6 hours of CE credit for Psychologists, LMFTs, LCSWs, and LPCCs. About the retreat: In this day-long retreat, couples will engage in mindfulness and compassion meditations, practices, and exercises, along with periods of inquiry and group discussions to enhance listening, communication, and empathy skills with loved ones. Asilomar, known as Monterey’s “Refuge by the Sea,” overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Asilomar State Beach, providing a serene setting for contemplation, reflection, and connection. This retreat is open to couples of all levels of meditation experience.





*Classes and retreats tend to fill quickly and space is limited for optimal experience. We recommend you register when registration first opens for the best chance of getting into your desired class/retreat. If a class/retreat is full, please feel free to register for the waitlist.



About the Retreat Facilitators:


Retreats are taught by two licensed marriage and family therapists (LMFTs) who are a certified compassion cultivation training (CCT) teachers through Stanford University’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCARE).



Meika Hamisch, LMFT, has practiced psychotherapy for over 30 years and is a trainer and educator in the areas of compassionate communication skills, psychology, cross cultural perspectives in therapy, mindfulness and self-compassion cultivation methods. She teaches CCT at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine and is a certified teacher in Cultivating Emotional Balance. Meika provides consultation, groups and training in mindfulness and CCT in Sacramento and Monterey. www.collaborativecompassiontraining.com





Hooria Jazaieri, LMFT, teaches CCT at Stanford University’s School of Medicine and is a certified teacher of Search Inside Yourself (SIY), a mindfulness-based emotional intelligence program developed at Google. Hooria’s research at Stanford University and the University of California, Berkeley in the areas of mindfulness, compassion, emotion, and emotion regulation has been published in leading academic journals in the fields of psychology, psychiatry, and neuroscience. www.StanfordCCT.com
